Oh, I know - sorry I've gone silent. I've been covering extra hours at work. Hoping to get something up tomorrow AM. Thanks!

Another great post! :) Your explanation reminds me a lot of what my 6th grade reading teacher said about Star Wars - although it takes place in outer space, with droids and other nifty gadgets, it's really a fantasy story because it's all about the archetypal struggle between good and evil. In fact, while writing the script, George Lucas consulted a book called "The Hero with a Thousand Faces," which distills the common threads of humanity's most enduring legends (including religious stories). The book had been published in the 1920s or something and had never achieved much recognition, and Lucas was the first writer in decades to revive the archetypes the book describes. However, the movie's outstanding success proved how much these ideals still resonate with people.
